1st time in and very happy accident as we usually order take out. There was a nice buffet. Under $10 and comes with soup. Very friendly staff and very casual atmosphere but busy. Nice relaxing music. We will be back!
Good service, but meh food. The Mongolian Beef was good but the sauce was bland. The Sesame Shrimp was one note taste and heavy on the breading. The chili oil was burnt and the place only gives you one scoop of rice with your meal. Won't go back.
To be honest, as much I find the environment of the place to be extremely outdated, the wall paper being ugly and the floor being dull, the food itself is actually quite decent. The food has some good flavors that can appeal to almost anyone living in the Georgetown area. For example, everytime I order the Triple Delight, the food always comes to me at an insanely short amount of time, all of the 3 meats well cooked, not raw or overcooked, with the brown sauce to be somewhat creamy and well-seasoned. The service is alright(for the most part as I hear that they are not careful in the delivery aspect). But it is tolerable considering the food to be a refreshing taste so it doesn't hurt to come to the Shanghai Express.

When I first came to Georgetown 4 years ago, I tried this place and fell in love with the chicken sizzling rice! I hold the broccoli, mushrooms, and bamboo, and it is so good! Went back again tonight and had the same dish, it came with carrots, water chestnuts, celery, zucchini, and I asked for shredded cabbage instead, and it was so good with the zucchini! The wonton soup was so good, and not salty, the chips that go in the soup were fresh tasting. The egg roll was great, all veggie, nice crunch, and very flavorful. Also order Mu shu chicken, which was so good as well. Will be going back, and would recommend to anyone! Don't let the lack of cars fool you, or the outdated decor, food is great!
