I was raised mostly AOG, my family began attending here nearly a year ago. We love it here, but haven't been in a while due to distance. I've decided distance shouldn't come between my family and where I feel God wants us. \0/
I was raised in a Messianic Jewish family, my soon to be husband was raised Catholic. The services here are great in that it focuses on the word. You don't have to be well versed in scripture, you come as you are and learn from where you're at both scholarly and spiritually. That means alot to us. We've not been as much as we like due to personal reasons but we plan on going more often for sure!
Messiah Echad is a hugely diverse congregation made up of believers and non-believers from different countries, ethnicities, ages, and backgrounds. From my experience, everyone at Messiah Echad is truly a gem; there is a great jubilance and peace about the people and sanctuary of Messiah Echad in which I have yet to find in the congregations I’ve been to whether it’s in China, Texas, New York, Singapore, or London.
This is a congregation of Hebrew Christian, Torah Observant, Messianic Jewish, and non religious believers, I highly recommend it to you if you are new Austin, visiting from abroad (you have to witness that true southern hospitality!), or even if you’ve been in Texas your whole life. Messiah Echad’s weekly Shabbat service is on Saturday and it’s an incredible treat and reminder to live a biblical life in an increasingly worldly society. I highly recommend their Shabbat service and other celebrations to anyone who seeks community and/or fellowship.
Just wanted to say that the services at Messiah Echad are amazing! No where else has my family been able to find a balanced approach to understanding the Tanach (Old Testament), with the Brit Chadashah (New Testament). From the lively praise and worship, through the parsha and ending with the teaching, there were no dull spots in the service and the 90 minutes goes by so quick. Even the little ones stay engaged, and I never knew children could learn to enjoy being with the adults in the main service. I feel this is the perfect home for Hebrew Christian, Messianic Jew and Non Religious Believers in Austin – Georgetown TX, and we are definitely looking forward to coming back.
My husband and I live about 40 minutes north, but we love coming to Messiah Echad when we're able. Everyone here is warm and welcoming, and you'll definitely sense God's presence. Beautiful, anointed worship and relevant teachings. It's a refreshing way to begin the week. :)
