Had a blast on Halloween!! Food is way over priced. It's all frozen generic stuff. The onion rings are the same ones used at Whataburger but twice as much. Bowling it roughly $24-25 an hour. Too much also for that too. My sister, her bf, and I got there an hour before the event started for Halloween and had an employee following us around because we were wandering around. It was our first time there and we couldn't pay to bowl till 10pm when the Halloween bowl started so we walked around the arcade and sat at a table till 10 rolled around. The waitress was awesome!! But the bald guy giving off the thug for hire vibe was not necessary.
I take my special need clients almost very Thursdays. They have discounts for special needs. It is friendly and a great place to bowl.
Mel's is located in Georgetown. It is seen off I-35 and is off to the left as you are headed into Georgetown. You must loop back around and go to it by turning right and then left where McDonald's is. Otherwise you may have a hard time getting to it. There is only one way in and out. They have a seperate room for adults only at night. This area has sofa seating. That area as well as the regular bowling area has wait staff that comes to you. There is a nice arcade as well. Bowling here is a little more pricey than a regular bowling alley but for an every-now-and-then, it's ok. The atmosphere is great. The food is not bad. There is something for everyone to eat. They even serve hot tea. Mel's offers league bowling and parties as well.
If I could rate no stars I would. I have bowled in leagues in 3 different states including Texas and this is the first ally that would not let me make an exception so I could bowl. My friend even has a medical condition with a doctor's note and a service dog. I tried to talk with the managers and said I would sign wavers and do a video recording saying I would not hold them responsible just so I could bowl for my nephews birthday. They denied me so I could not bowl. I talked to all 3 managers at the same time and not one of them understanding. I do not recommend this place at all. They may claim to be a family place but they are not.
Very good food and drink! Definitely recommend going in the off hours but their food is very good, they're clean lanes and bathrooms and good customer service.
